All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. From the beggar’s pad to the palace where the kings have trod. Yes all have sinned and fall short of the glory, It’s a foregone fact and an age-old story. All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
There is a man that you don’t know, Or maybe yet you do, He owns ten of everything, And mansions? He’s got two. Respect and fears from all his peers, The world is his it seems, A lifestyle of the chosen few, And the woman of his dreams. He ever lives to close the deal, Doesn’t matter what it’s for, As long as he comes out on top, And the bottom line shows more.
But even though he’s got it all, Our friend has missed the greater call, Because all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
His destiny, if that’s the word, Was meticulously planned, His talents and abilities, Before the earth began, He would have built great hospitals, Where diseases find a cure, His gifts? they would have changed the world, And his motives, oh so pure, His family would have loved this man, And not just shown him fear, Had he only tried to listen once, And had the ears to hear… but
All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. From the beggar’s pad to the palace where the kings have trod. Well now all have sinned and fall short of the glory, It’s a foregone fact and an age-old story. All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
There’s another man you may have seen, As you’ve passed upon the street, And maybe you just looked away, He’s not the sort most want to meet. “Take anything that you can get” Is his own golden rule, By slight of hand or rough command, You’re either cunning or a fool. But it’s not his fault that he’s this way, At least he says so in his mind, Survival’s all that really counts, Because the world is so unkind. You see his parents couldn’t pay their bills, And they took it out on him. It’s all a result of society’s ills That he now must sink or swim.
This man too has missed the boat, That would have more than kept his life afloat, Because all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
He would have been a great leader, And a champion of the poor, His work to feed the hungry, Would have touched so many more. And not just their physical bodies, Would have been his kind concern, Their spirits would have mattered too, From examples they would learn. This was the path laid out for him, Before his life began. But bitterness led him astray, And so he’s missed the plan. Because…
All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God, From the beggar’s pad to the palace where the kings have trod. None is righteous, no not one, Not the father in Rome or the prophet’s son Because all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
One was sent Who hit the mark, But we crucified Him in our darkness, Still He’s calling us to be part of the Glory of God
